Rescue and Placement
The PVIWC has an active wolfhound rescue/placement program operating in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Our program was developed to find permanent new homes for IW’s whose owners are no longer able to care for them, or found in shelters, or other temporary accommodations. We accept wolfhounds of any age.
We have complete medical workups done on all our dogs, and screen the new homes carefully to be certain the hounds will be well cared-for in their new lives. Medical care includes a physical, heartworm test and preventative, updated vaccinations and worming as appropriate, and spaying or neutering.
Click here to view our rescue application form if you are interested in adopting an Irish Wolfhound from us.
If you need to place a hound with us, for whatever reason, please contact the Rescue Coordinator Susan Montgomery as soon as possible at 410-446-3138. Even if you are not in the DelMarVa area, don’t hesitate to call as we can call in resources around the country.
Please contact the club Rescue Coordinator if you need any more information concerning our program.
If you would like to donate to our rescue program, you can send a check to our Treasurer (see contacts page) or donate through paypal here:
